DSLR FILMMAKING WORKSHOP

Perfect for anyone who wishes to learn how to shoot and edit video and is comfortable working on the Macintosh Computer,

This course is for those who have thought about working with video, but have yet to take the final plunge. Participants will begin the class with a photograph, a story, an audio recording, or an idea, and use that material as a jumping-off point for a short video piece. In this course, technique, form, and content will be taught simultaneously. Students will learn the basics of shooting video with DSLR cameras, lighting, different methods of sound capture, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. They will also begin to think about how to frame images for video, consider camera movements, and gain a foundation in video editing techniques. In addition, a comparative study of historical and contemporary film works will stimulate class discussions and point students toward a personal approach. Students will end the workshop with a finished video piece and an expanded sense of the possibilities in DSLR filmmaking.
